Poem by Anita
Early morning
the new day before the day
p e a c e
reigns
in this instant
waves recede.
Anita
the new day before the day
p e a c e
reigns
in this instant
waves recede.

In an instant - Anita Holzberg
In an instant
talk with you
things become
clear
I must live like Buddha
experiencing Now
going over dirty
ground
does not keep the
sneakers clean.

Anita poem
I stake out my life
one more time
humanity rocks
I am witness
to sorrow
anxiety
plea bargaining
The message I tell myself
is to be strong
forces will reconcile or not
hurts will always be hurts
A Moment of
Bad Sundays
pass
liquid rain comes down
as I resurrect
my peace.

In Paths I Run - Anita Holzberg
In paths I run
through clouded windows
the sun peeks
as the river runs
clear
I must follow her
and thee.

Time comes, time goes - Anita Holzberg
The spaces between writing and not
f u r t h er
as my mind takes other directions
Writing has to be a clear shot
a stone that ripples in the water
freely tossed
In the interim, I drink my coffee
play piano
"Time Comes, Time Goes"
as the light returns
to sky.Wednesday, 21 March 2012
Anita's poem
The cat swallowed the canary
and then some
Dogs abide by their owners
A fraidy cat stays on the deck
waiting for breakfast
Time is the magic wand
As I write these words to keep
me sane
Time is the umbrella
The clause, the policy
To be remembered in these poems
Who knows?
Poem by Anita
The black sky covers
The rain soaked deck
Sparkle in the coming light
In discovery I find your face
Among the lilies
Your smile on my doorstep
Your voice unending
You did not die
You will never leave me
As geese fly
As children run
As the curtain flows
As the sea recedes
As waves come
You will be with me
My beloved for all time.
Time Comes, Time Goes lyrics to a song set to music - by Anita
Time Comes,
Time Goes
You were there for me to
start my heart
Time Comes,
Time Goes
You were there for me to
start my heart
Love...is the answer
Love ...is the answer
When you have a love like that
When you have a love like that
You are to t a l l y changed.
Time comes,
Time goes
You were there for me to
start my heart
When you have a love like that
You are totally changed.Spring-light - Anita Holzberg
Spring-light comes
bounds and bounds of light
8 AM
my garden has a glow
my heart leaps up to match
the light
In the interim
I think of you, dear Jim
write a song about you, dear Jim
Love is the answer
that is my message
No amount of clothes or fancy dinners out
compete
Love is the answer
Now.

The Lesson - Anita Holzberg
Waking
the leaves wet
rain enters the garden
all chairs wet
the barbecue before the season's
start shiny black with rain
In the waking
yesterday's visit of Debbie and Sarah
while Misaki did her drawing
in her lesson
Sarah's golden locks shorter
as she gave to Locks of Love
her face shining in
her new sporty hair do
Misaski brings her drawing
over for all to see
happy sun and happy clouds
frame a Peter Cottontail
Suddenly, my student and friends are together
In that moment
I became higher than a kite
never coming down as I resumed the lesson
Sarah and her Mom leave
Misaki does her phonics
and writing
another day in the house
this one refreshing!
Anita's New Poetry Book
Hi Readers:
This Winter I have written 2 chapbooks of my poems. They contain 10 poems
each.
One is "Love Knows No Bounds, Love poems to Jim Becker. The other "A Beam of
Light" are 10 poems of healing. I believe each speaks to the universal world
out there.
If you want to purchase them or have them, they are $5 US dollars and can be
ordered
with your comment on my blog. I believe they are wonderful! You will embrace
the
Love Poems. Everyone who was ever in love will relate to them. Poems of healing
is
my journey after knee replacement surgery and my broken arm. Those too will
help
on get on with their life after the physical challenges. Do let me know if you
might
want a copy. I will have "A Beam of Light", after April. Take care, dear
Readers.
So glad you are out there. It means so much.

In Willows I Will Remember You - Anita Holzberg
In willows
I will remember you
as the light becomes day
before my eyes
I will honor you
because life is about loving
Loving is about life
Love makes it through the depths
I hold this prism of light before me
Before you are waking
Before you are moving
I feel all that you are
All that you are to me.
Attention to Detail - by Anita
Rapt attention
to detail
I live my life memorizing closets
Counting socks in drawers
Organizing t-shirts
Piles of memories in those clothes
capri pants and flowered shirts
straw hats and cloth caps
In the interim
there is space for writing
and dreaming
that's what life is about
dreaming.
The flowers sing to me this
early morning and the
trees with pop of green
bring me peace.
As My Day Dreams - Anita Holzberg
Tomorrow's vision
On today's sleeve
the undulating seas
claim me
the hunt and peck
besiege me
the wrestle of the leaves
understand me
the comings and goings
of life remind me
that life is short
5 months in this house
I survived and did better
than that
The wings of man summon
and the children who I teach
who are my grand kids
speak to me in the early
morning
pearls of wisdom from them
always a divine light around them
as my day dreams.
Morning=light by Anita Holzberg
I insist
the universe is round
the ground is brown
the grass grows
like sweet grains under
my feet
the understood visions
march into Spring
as the infinite shadows
recede
in the morning light.

I Spoke to my Beloved
not withstanding hope
I write these words
I spoke to my beloved
He knew my voice
Time erases the pain
Time can catch me
Out there always
Always with you in my heart
5 months does not mean
You will forget me
I will never forget You
Soft shades of morning curl
Like silver threads in the morning
sun
at the thought.

Maine - Anita Holzberg
lobsters and shrimp
buttered sauce
big white bibs
a New England clam chowder
I have been there
in Maine
where the lake laps
the rocky coast emerges
the Augusts are chilly
The evergreens roll
The peace in the mountain
Mount Katadin
The girls around the campfire
tennis courts until dusk
are now in the sea of my
dreams.

A Short Poem - Anita
After the rain
my deck absorbs the wet
clouds move overhead
sun dances like crystals
the sky emits patches of blue
the tea kettle sings.

A List Poem - by Anita Holzberg
G-d bless
the repeating sky
that greets me every morning
the reoccurring dream
that hops open my heart
the air waves
street scenes
cream on the gelato
covered spaces with trees
hanging over
the river of the mind
that returns in Spring-like
fashion
with semi circles of leaves.
Poem by Anita
rapt in the glow of light
i begin my day through
the window
ethereal and reasonable
shade and brightness
like a Mondrian painting
the color block
brick gold and red
repeat
their allegiance to sky
after the long Winter's healing
in my sea of dreams.Sunday, 4 March 2012
Madagascar is far - Anita Holzberg
Madagascar is far
windows hold light
fragrance comes but once a day
streets are greening with cracks
moss between the toes
A semblance of thought and word
comes quietly to me this day
as the rapt wind blows through
my hair
and my fingers walk
my head knows that hard work
is ahead
I glance at the river, one more time.
4 Months in the House - Anita
Words like wings come to me 4 months in the house The air is still fresh, the light comes and finds me through windows I cherish my quilts, my Sumatra coffee, the coming and going of my cat, Picchu the camaraderie of friends the grand kids that light my stage the restless heart awakens I dream of long walks summer barbecues a swim across a cool pool You, there swimming, too.
morning-song - by Anita Holzberg
lightened dreams walk
on top of morning-song
the sun transmits
a mild March day
is the offering
shadows drop away
as the day begins in
light and shadow
trees glisten
listen to the birds
a song without words.

A Poem from Anita
evening comes
4 hours medical
arm swinging like a pendulum
no pain meds
healing good
rehab is up to me
evening comes salmon and quinoa
made by a total stranger
sits and talks
daughter going to teach in Japan
life could take on new paths
delicious icing froasting
chocolate for the bath
something new
inhale
wonderful!
Response - by Anita
| "When you sit in a café, with a lot of music in the background & a lot of projects in your head, you're not really drinking your coffee or your tea. You're drinking your projects, you're drinking your worries. You are not real, & the coffee is not real either. Your coffee can only reveal itself to you as a reality when you go back to your self & produce your true presence, freeing yourself from the past, the future, & from your worries. When you are real, the tea also becomes real & the encounter between you & the tea is real. This is genuine tea drinking." ~Thich Nhat Hanh Anita's response - the green tea beckons its the only drink i drink at Starbucks the zen flavor of lemon grass seeps the aroma astounds me light yet tangy life becomes that too in a NewYork minute California dreams arise. |

Morning Comes - Anita Holzberg
Morning comes
Nathan visits
We talk about our lives
over a Cappuccino at Starbucks
no seats
We share a table with a guy with a small dog
Scott is in the conversation and Baby the dog
Scott leaves
We talk about finances and our children
We talk for almost 2 hours
Starbucks' tables become empty
It is over 70 degrees in February
The dialog started for us in September
It continues
I in a sling
A poet friend comes by
We talk as if no one but us is there
My hair blows softly
My heart rises
Life is good!
In my lucky Starbucks
Life is good!

tomorrow - Anita Holzberg
tomorrow
the clouds will rise
the trees will be more green
the willows will awaken
i will have a working right arm
a left knee that can walk more than a mile
morning comes, prayer too
in this resemblance of sky
there is light, also.
the day wakes up - Anita Holzberg
In silence
the day wakes up
the hummingbird flutters
the buttercup shines
the trumpet vine hums
all creatures big and small
enter this day
and i remember the beauty of nature
too!

Poem by Anita
in the staying
in o n e place
we never escape our dreams
we see the everyday as special
the community not only of writers
but gardeners, caregivers, street cleaners
everyone contributing to the day
forces of nature come together
on the shoulders of hard work
the core of the apple sings.

Monday Arrives - Anita Holzberg
Monday arrives
the surprise is the rain
coming down like gangbusters
the barbecue all covered in wet
the faded green umbrella soaked
the cat in the yard,
her coat soaked too
i sleep way beyond sunrise
the arm in less pain
time is the great healer
time and good people around me
the key to healing
this is true
right as rain
as the light at the end
of my tunnel still shines for me.

Greetings - from Anita!
in the slow dance of the turtle
sure steps are found
in the opening of sky
burdens lift
in the soft moss
a playful soul emerges
sure steps are found
in the opening of sky
burdens lift
in the soft moss
a playful soul emerges

Poem by Anita
morning comes
the sun glowing between the streets
the sweet scent of cinnamon toast
tangy grapefruit
coffee brewed by a caregiver
arm in a sling
nathan calls from east coast
i am in his heart for empathy
soft shades of morning
hopping keys the keyboard
humming into a sense of normalcy
hope in these words
the sun glowing between the streets
the sweet scent of cinnamon toast
tangy grapefruit
coffee brewed by a caregiver
arm in a sling
nathan calls from east coast
i am in his heart for empathy
soft shades of morning
hopping keys the keyboard
humming into a sense of normalcy
hope in these words

Poem of Healing by Anita Holzberg
morning comes
chance plays her trump card
arm in a sling once strong
now broken
time is all i have
time to heal
chance plays her trump card
arm in a sling once strong
now broken
time is all i have
time to heal

I Gather Them In - Anita Holzberg
I gather them in
all the pleats of memory
all the sequins of history
all the glitz and glam-our
or a life I led
the trips to LA
Frank Israel's designs
his friendship, too
I gather them in
pearls and diamond bracelets
lost
fragrance of Coco Channel
shiny hair
perfumed mornings
before I saw You
I gather them all
wind and wonder
soft petals
leaves of red
brick evenings
I chance to meet you in my dream
sweet pillows of remembrances
on a bird's wing
I remember it all
all the losses I endured
even Now.
Mine - Anita Holzbzerg
Mine,
I wanted it to be mine
My rainbow
My piece of heaven
My peace among the rafters
Mine going and coming
Mine love affair fleeting
Mine curtains flowing
Mine heart, soul, and body
riding the crest
of too many lost loves
Mine facing another Valentine's Day
In lieu of all this
Mine fancy do dads
Mine raspberry jam
Mine patch of freedom
in this sea of aloneness
Mine spirit rises with the wind
a new day revs
Mine bangle bracelets
Mine house of comfort
Mine Picchu and glee
Mine sacred time between
me and Thee.
We all Connect with the Great White River - Anita Holzberg
We connect with the great white river
that flows within us
The darkness and light
that floods morning-song
The tall trees whose roots go to the next
millennium
Politics aside
We ride the crest of a natural wonder
Can you hear the mockingbirds?
Can you see the heron
sliding on Shoreline marsh?
Can you blow thistle
and watch the seeds fall?
We connect with the rushing of the rain
the softness of a snow
I have been there
every morning
rehearsing your song,
dear Earth.
and that rehearsal brings
infinite peace.

In This World - Anita Holzberg
In this world
Evie, 4 months old
connects
with eyes, nose, mouth, and toes
her being in the world short of a miracle
In this world
the ideas evolve
the time to think immense
books emerge
poems follow suit
In this world
time does not stand still
the planets wax and wane
the infinite colors mix
as paint and wit
mark this day.

If - Anita Holzberg
If,
my life would be settled
If,
the flux would go away
If,
this morning I get an answer
If,
standing at the gate
no egg on my face
if
revising dreams
one by one
I take them
to mean something
more
than breathing
Spin
Dance
Win
Recede
Advance
Sing
of Thee for Me.
