Two woman, Anita Holzberg and Ann Wainwright met over the internet with Bill Costley,
their common friend, whose wife Carolin had been Ann's good friend. Starting in
June '09, Anita sent a Cupcake poem to Ann's website cakecakecake, after seeing
the photo of cupcakes. The poem was about her grandson's first birthday party. Ann
liked that and it was the start of a wonderful exchange of poems from Anita to Ann and
Ann with color, photos, and lay-out savvy, presented them to the blog. Now, in 2010,
the two women so alike in spirit and interests, have started BetweenFriends, a new blog
site where they can combine ideas about their worlds. Ann lives in Northern UK
(Teesside). Anita lives in Northern California, Sunnyvale, (Silicon Valley where all the
computers are.) We share our lives on this blog and hope you will comment and share
yours too, dear readers and enjoy the "ride".

Almost June - Anita Holzberg

In almost June
The winds follow fiercely
The seeds of nature are swaying
What was once dormant blooms
mini roses illuminate a walkway
  of slate
As the unpredictable looms
in the sea of beauty
How did we get here?

Summer's Ahead - Anita Holzberg

In the green of summer
  I walk
   turtles on my path
      knees bend to pick up
              stones
toads appear
   snails, too

No one knows where I've been
No one knows where I am going

In the green of summer
  I will move like lightening
     and see m o r e
the honking geese
      the chickadee
           the forest's green
               will dance on the earth
           like children hopping
                 like popcorn popping
         rejoicing in what I have
             what will be.

Mini Poems - By Anita!

Mini Poems

In the rivers of the mind
  I touch deep
   small pools
     big dreams
(out of darkened waters)

I don't look back
 keep on running
    the charge to
jump start
   comes from
     within.

      2

In the breakfast of the
      mind
        fresh pear
      cheddar chunks
     grapenuts crunch

I begin again
 with myself
    because
I can only be myself
     to myself.

        3

A firefly sticker
    by my sleeve
 iced creamed mornings
    speak to the ever
            ending
          sky
what chance for renewal
Now!

          4

In rivers I call home
  the dark fogged in morning
     Il Divo plays
Peace walks, like never before
      I am home.

          5

Morning comes quietly
  quickly I make my coffee
     the blend of spices
 cinamon and hazelnut
      fill the room
June is soon!!

         6

What is it about the rain
  wind and fog
      what is it about
the sea, trees, and mountains
  I see your faces
In this early morning
peace reigns like a queen.

Anita - a song!

In truth
  birds chirp
     as robins return
spring sits on the top of summer
    warmer days
          flowers emerge
             my heart
                 begins to sing

Anita's poem

Satisfy hunger
  with the sun streaming
    and the cat grinning
       her fur under my feet
so sweet.

Roses - by Anita Holzberg

Velvet red roses
     big velvet red roses
         bloomed
     on my rose tree
         dormant
            now bursting with color

        On the fence
              near my neighbor
                      two orange roses arrived
              a surprise!
