Two woman, Anita Holzberg and Ann Wainwright met over the internet with Bill Costley,
their common friend, whose wife Carolin had been Ann's good friend. Starting in
June '09, Anita sent a Cupcake poem to Ann's website cakecakecake, after seeing
the photo of cupcakes. The poem was about her grandson's first birthday party. Ann
liked that and it was the start of a wonderful exchange of poems from Anita to Ann and
Ann with color, photos, and lay-out savvy, presented them to the blog. Now, in 2010,
the two women so alike in spirit and interests, have started BetweenFriends, a new blog
site where they can combine ideas about their worlds. Ann lives in Northern UK
(Teesside). Anita lives in Northern California, Sunnyvale, (Silicon Valley where all the
computers are.) We share our lives on this blog and hope you will comment and share
yours too, dear readers and enjoy the "ride".

Words from Anita

Before the beating of the rain comes
                  before surgery
                       one step two step
                          even a blue step

               November is almost here
                          cheer cheer.

---------------------------------------------------------

                      November is almost here
                             the nights chill
                          right down to my toes
                               comfy socks
                                   cover the pain..

A Writer's Creed - Anita Holzberg

Before the birds sing
  and the sprinklers resound

I take the world
   As it is

How many times do I go to the drawing board?
How many times do I place words on a page
Not knowing exactly where they fall

I cherish this time
  The silence from within speaking

For reflection is a greater part of
  Who I am.

Poem - by Anita

the leaves of fall are starting to turn
         my heart turns inward
             the fluttering of the wind
                   hears my song
              the day before the day
                      greets me coming and going
                                  at a pace
that is unnatural to the universe
                                soon I will slow down
to feel the rain on my shoulders
                                                to smell the sea=salt
                                                    to echo with the river
                                                       time the gaunt executioner
                                                               Now.

Picchu - Anita Holzberg

In the evening when Picchu comes in
her coat of fur matches the darkness
she still is the funny "fraidy" cat
 that lingers around
   peeping the corners
      of a room
never jumping in my lap or sleep on my bed

I am fortunate that the little tuxedo cat
     befriends me
she knows who does the feeding
she goes about my legs like a hairy
                        fur ball
she darts into the deep night
at 12--Midnight
     when I call it quits
her morning has just begun.

God of Many Names - Anita Holzberg

God of Many Names
after a video about the world's population now 7 trillion

  God of many names
    Grant peace in the world
      Take away the suffering
         In day to day living
    Follow the rising sun
        Feed mouths that are hungry
              Take the advanced warning
                   Of cleaning up the planet
                      Of living with less
                        Of channeling electronic devices
                            For the greater good
          God of many names
                         Hear our anguish
                            Hear our song.
